Soft-Body Dynamics — 3D Animation
A playful 3D dynamics experiment in which a soft-body sphere deforms, rebounds and travels through a sequence of rigid obstacles.
Overview
This personal project explores soft-body dynamics through a playful animated obstacle course created in Cinema 4D.
The central sphere was set up as a flexible, deformable object that reacts naturally as it moves through the environment. Rather than following a completely fixed animation path, its movement is driven by the simulation, allowing it to compress, stretch, rebound and change direction when interacting with the surrounding obstacles.
The remaining elements were configured as rigid collision objects, creating a course through which the sphere must travel before reaching the end of the sequence. Their placement, scale and spacing were carefully adjusted to guide the movement while still allowing the physics simulation to produce spontaneous and organic reactions.
The project combined dynamics setup, obstacle design, camera work, materials, lighting and animation timing. The final sequence was composited and refined in Adobe After Effects.
