PUMA Embroidered-Style 3D Logo Reveal
The PUMA logo animation recreates the tactile look of embroidery through procedural threads, surface detail and controlled 3D motion.
Overview
This unofficial personal project explores how procedural 3D threads can recreate real embroidery.
The main challenge was to make the stitching feel physical rather than placing simple lines over a logo.
Cinema 4D MoGraph rebuilds the PUMA mark with individual strands. The setup controls their density, direction and slight irregularity while preserving the original proportions.
The thread placement required a careful balance. Uniform strands looked artificial, while excessive variation reduced readability.
Therefore, the project refined the spacing, curvature and distribution across the surface. The result suggests many separate stitches rather than one continuous graphic effect.
A dark fabric background gives the embroidery a believable context. Lighting then reveals subtle depth, shadow and colour variation across the threads.
The reveal gradually builds the logo through accumulating strands. Arnold enhances the texture and separation, while Adobe Premiere Pro handles the final edit, music and composition.
PUMA did not commission or endorse this personal project. PUMA and its associated trademarks belong to their respective owners.
